Welcome to the HomeLife blog. This is our home for practical real estate advice, honest market insight, and the community stories that make the Five Star name mean something.
For more than three decades, HomeLife has believed that real estate is about people first. Homes are where lives happen, and the agents who serve those clients deserve tools, training, and a standard worth aspiring to. This blog is one more way we share what we are learning.
What you will find here
We write for three groups of people, and most weeks you will find something for each.
If you are buying, expect plain-language explanations of the steps nobody explains properly the first time: what pre-approval actually commits you to, how conditions protect you, what happens between a signed offer and the day you get the keys, and how to read a neighbourhood before you commit years of your life to it.
If you are selling, expect preparation advice that earns its keep. What buyers notice in the first ten seconds, which repairs return more than they cost, how pricing strategy differs from wishful thinking, and how to plan a sale and a purchase that have to happen in the same month.
If you are building a career, expect the inside view. How our agents win listings, what the training and technology behind a HomeLife office actually do day to day, and the stories of people who joined the brand and grew something.
Written by people who do the work
These articles come from our corporate team and from the brokers and agents across the network. When a post draws on someone’s experience in a specific market, we name them. When it covers something that varies by province or by board, we say so rather than flattening it into advice that only holds in one city.
We will not publish market predictions dressed up as certainty, and we will not recycle press releases. If an article is not useful to somebody making a real decision, it does not run.
Start with the guides
The deepest research on this site is not on the blog at all. Our Toronto neighbourhood guides cover 153 areas, each with what living there is actually like, walk and transit scores, area market statistics, current HomeLife listings, schools with ratings and official board locators, and the local businesses and parks that decide whether a place suits you.
When you are ready to talk to somebody, our agent directory and office directory will find a Five Star agent near you.
Tell us what to write
If there is a question you keep running into, or a part of the process that nobody has explained well, tell us. The most useful things we publish usually start as somebody’s question.
